Death by Chocolate. What a Way to Go!

Hey there Peaches. I’m going to ask a silly question but, how much do you love Chocolate??? I have to be honest; I haven’t ever really liked chocolate. At least, not just plain chocolate. I love warm brownies, and I like mint chocolate chip ice cream, but when it comes to just chocolate, I have to say, I’m not the biggest fan. I know vanilla is the plain Jane of the flavor world, but chocolate seems to be just as plain. So, I set out to make an extravagant chocolate cake that would blow the socks of any ol regular chocolate cake. Introducing, Death by Chocolate. This cake is ooey gooey and has enough chocolate only the Gilmore Girls could appreciate. I start with 4 layers of a devil’s food chocolate cake, a chocolate buttercream frosting, and a filling of home made hot fudge (chilled of course), then I top it with more hot fudge, and a sprinkling of chocolate sprinkles. I made home made hot fudge this week, and I’ll admit, I had a few spoonfuls. This fudge was so decadent; it would be good on just about anything. Ice cream, cake, brownies, cookies, by itself. It was almost magical.

Now, as I’m sure you can imagine my creations don’t always work out the way I want them to. I made two 4 inch cakes to test out my Death by Chocolate idea. Well one, was great. I got it stacked and chilled and all was well with the world.. The other cake, well, let’s just say it wasn’t really a cake. The cake was so moist that every time I tried to smooth the buttercream to crumb coat it, it just disintegrated. So, I had a very happy Hubby when he got home in the wee hours of the morning to find a “bowl cake”. Genius right? Hahaha. Not! Since the cake was falling down, I simply made Igor a nice cake parfait. I must say, he was very impressed with the level of chocolate that this cake offered. He actually ate it with some fudge swirl vanilla ice cream.

Sometimes with cakes, just as in life, things don’t work out exactly how we thought they would. Sometimes they fall and break and you have to adjust and repair them. Unfortunately with life, you can’t just slap on some buttercream and cover the mistake. Accidents and all, live this life in the pursuit of what makes you happy. Stay Peachy!! –PP
